Translate a video to Hindi
Upload a video of up to 5 minutes, choose हिन्दी (Hindi) and get it back speaking Hindi, either as a lip-synced video or as a Hindi audio track. The spoken language is detected automatically, so the original does not have to be in English.
Who a Hindi version reaches
Hindi is written in Devanagari and is the main language of much of north and central India, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi. It is also the official language of the central government, which uses English alongside it. A Hindi dub lets a video made in English, or in another Indian language, reach viewers who would otherwise scroll past it.
आप or तुम, गया or गई
Hindi has three ways to say you: आप (respectful), तुम (familiar) and तू (intimate, or rude to a stranger). Most creators speak to viewers as आप. Hindi verbs also change with the speaker’s gender, so “I went” is मैं गया from a man and मैं गई from a woman. The translation is made from the transcript alone, which does not say who is speaking, so read the first-person lines in the Hindi text shown next to the original before you publish.
Hinglish is normal on YouTube
Everyday Hindi keeps many English words as they are: video, channel, subscribe, phone, update. A translation that swaps every one of them for a formal Sanskrit-derived word, such as दूरभाष for phone, sounds like a government notice rather than a creator talking. The translation step is asked to keep the tone of the original, and the result shows the full Hindi text, so this is easy to check.
Lip-synced video or a Hindi audio track
Lip-synced video replaces the speech and matches the mouth movement to the Hindi audio with Sync Lipsync 2. Audio track only gives you a Hindi audio file and costs less; it is meant for YouTube’s multi-language audio, where viewers pick Hindi from the settings menu of the video you already published. The Hindi voice is ElevenLabs v3, or, with lip-synced video, a copy of the original speaker’s voice taken from the video itself.
Questions
- How much does a Hindi translation cost?
- It is billed per started minute of video, so a video of 2 minutes 10 seconds counts as 3 minutes. Clone my voice adds one minute, and audio track only costs less per minute. The translate page shows the exact credits and your balance before you start, and the credits are returned if the job fails.
- Can I paste a YouTube link?
- No. Upload an MP4 or MOV file, or paste a direct link to an .mp4 file. If it is your own video, you can download it from YouTube Studio first.
- My video is in Tamil or Bengali. Can it be dubbed into Hindi?
- Yes. Whisper, the transcription model, detects the spoken language, so the source does not have to be English.
- What if two people talk in the video?
- All of the speech is voiced by one voice, so it works best for a video with one main speaker talking clearly.
